The Rome/Sullivan food pantry has been part of St. Luke’s for over 35 years. The food pantry relies mainly on food and monetary donations. It also receives some government commodities through CAC (Community Action Coalition) out of Madison once a month. These commodities vary from month to month. Sometimes there are fresh meats, fruit or vegetables and at times dairy products besides canned goods. Monetary donations are always accepted and used to purchase items the pantry is low on or not provided by CAC. Also in the summer and fall fresh garden produce are happily accepted. Over this time we’ve seen it grow in donations and numerous clients.
THE FOOD PANTRY is open the first and third Thursdays from 10 to noon. We NEVER TURN ANYONE AWAY! Government household guidelines are no longer necessary as they were a number of years ago. We are here to help people on a regular basis or in an emergency situation. At the present time 28 families are being served. With food prices increasing along with other expenses, it is good to be able to serve these families in need.
